So I binged the entirety of How To Build a Sex Room last night and this one scene just cracked me up
The designer’s at a western leather/tack store looking for supplies to make a rustic-style sex swing and turns to one of the store employees for advice, which initially goes about as amusingly as you would expect
So then she pulls up some pictures to give him an idea of what she needs
And he’s Immediately like
The professional disgust, I’m living
… yeah, that tracks. I know so many crafting professionals who would be like that.
‘Professional expresses strong well-founded opinions on something he only just learned about,’ gotta be one of my favorite genres
Just over fifteen years ago, on October 5th, 2005, the world was given the gift of Stephenie Meyers’ first book in the Twilight Saga series. These books ushered in a new era of sparkly vampires and sexy werewolves, capturing the imagination of fans and haters alike. The film series that began in 2008 launched the careers of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. Tweens and teens who fell in love with the books and films have revisited them as adults, wallowing in nostalgia for the fandom of their youths and discussing all of the source material’s good (and bad) parts.
New Blood
This year, the fandom has grown even more—in part due to the announcement in May of a new book: Midnight Sun. Memes about the new canon material immediately spawned across Booklr, with old-school fans excited (or resigned) about reading the events in Twilight, told from Edward Cullen’s perspective. The excitement surrounding the August 4th book release was so high that it appeared on August 10th’s Week in Review.
The Twilight Saga book series first appeared on Year in Review at #20 in 2019, while the film series premiered that same year at #15. Since then, the films have bounced up and down many of our Fandometrics lists as the fandom’s jokes evolved. Twilight jumped up ten spots on this year’s Movies list, and Midnight Sun premiered at #6 on our Books list, while the original Twilight Saga series moved up one spot on that same list.
The Legacy
Peeling apart this pomegranate further, we’ve seen a jump in engagement around actor Robert Pattinson who played Edward Cullen in the movie series. After receiving much acclaim for his performance in 2019’s The Lighthouse, Pattinson appeared in 2020’s Tenet and The Devil All the Time. Additionally, he was cast as Bruce Wayne in The Batman, all of which have skyrocketed Pattinson up a whopping 31 spots on this year’s Actors list. However, like so many of Twilight’s fans, it seems like Robert Pattinson will never fully be free from his association with the franchise, especially in 2020.
